Antique square piano by George Garcka, London, 1792, restored by Thomas Winter, 2008. 61 keys, FF-f''', at A=415. Beautiful mahogany inlaid stand, satinwood inlaid nameboard. Ivory naturals, ebony sharps. Levers control buff rail and damper lift ('Moonlight Sonata') mechanism. New strings and dampers. Garcka was one of the '12 Apostles' who came to England from Germany after the Seven Years' War, establishing a shop on Wardour Street in London where he built pianos until 1792.
